| The Dignity Boards concept was inspired by the 25% unemployed in South Africa. Among these unemployed are many men who stand alongside our roads. They have no formal or organized mechanism to apply for jobs and often do not have the necessary skills to secure full time employment. They have to resolve to beg in order to survive. We drive past them daily and wish them away, ignore them, or wish we had a solution and could create easy jobs for all of them. However we choose to handle it, the dilemma will not disappear. | ![]() |

Faced with these statistics, ever-decreasing government funds and shrinking support services and programmes for this community, many would view this picture as futile. Culturally, the population features large extended families requiring greater financial resources to sustain themselves. The unemployment rate is overwhelming. Much of this can be traced to the lack of employable skills, or a mismatch between the skills of the residents and those required by regional industries. Dignity Boards, the business, was established to deal with the problem of unemployment and poverty. Dignity Boards enables social upliftment as well as the prevention of poverty and crime through job creation for the homeless and unskilled. |
| Dignity Boards Advertising Billboards are high-impact, visually attractive, hand-held advertising display boards. The boards are paid for by an advertiser who then has the choice to use it mainly for advertising purposes or to sponsor the upliftment and development of the group displaying their boards. It is a win-win solution for everyone. We do not have to ask for grants or sponsorship because our advertisers carry the cost of marketing their products and services - an expense they would have incurred anyway. The difference is that through their advertising the unemployed now have jobs and access to development. | ![]() |
